The F·R·E·S·H Way
There are five things I’ve found help me most when it comes to being consistent: Fasting, Reflecting, Exercising, Sleeping and Hydrating. I call it ‘the F·R·E·S·H way’. So long as I focus on these five things, I tend to stay in control of pretty much everything in my life.
I’ve tried diet after diet over the past few decades and none truly sat right with me until I’d dealt with past trauma and learned to listen to my body.
At the moment my body tells me that it wants animal products (meat, butter, eggs, cheese, animal fats etc.) and a few other foods (avocado, garlic, onion, berries, nuts, olives etc.). It prefers to dry fast for about 12 hours a day and feels good with a 4-6 hour eating window. Now and then it needs more carbs (sweet potato at the time of the month, for example).
My body wants to sleep for 7-9 hours a night and have the odd afternoon doze. It prefers to exercise first thing in a fasted state and keep to a 4 or 5 hour eating window. Oh, and it enjoys a combination of dry fasting and hydration throughout the day.
That’s about it.
If I trust my body to tell me what it needs but keep track of progress and reflect on my goals regularly along the way, I do better both physically and mentally.
